IEC Monthly Meeting

April 8th, 2:30pm

Have you ever dreamed of transforming your vision into reality? Whether it’s a small community project or a grand idea that could change the landscape of Ellis County, this is your chance to shine. Join us the second Tuesday of every month, at 2:30pm, in the basement of Brief Space to share your thoughts, gather insights, and connect with like-minded individuals who are passionate about improving our community. Together, we can harness our creativity, fuel new initiatives, and build a brighter future. Don’t just imagine—come and inspire others to bring those ideas to life!

Block Parties Committee

A group created to bring community members. The goal is to launch this initiative in the Spring of 2025, where citizens can pick up Block-Party Starter Kits, complete with checklists and items to host a community block party.

Disc Golf

Hays is home to the oldest original disc golf in Kansas and a rich history within the sport – the Flyin’ Bison Disc Golf Club (FBDGC) and the Frontier Open tournament are some of the longest-running traditions in disc golf. Since 1983, FBDGC has grown from a small group of FHSU students to a thriving community, with over 10,000 rounds played annually at Frontier Park alone. The Frontier Open – has sold out for seven consecutive years, reaching max capacity in just two days in 2024. Yet, with only one 18-hole course, further growth is impossible.
Our goal is to expand Ellis County’s network of disc golf courses in hopes of enhancing outdoor recreation opportunities for Ellis County residents and introducing as many people to the health and social benefits of this engaging sport.

Stage Project Committee

This committee wants to re-imagine what the Hays Municipal Park could be used for if it had a permanent stage structure. For large events and small community events.

Trails Committee

This project aims to develop a network of hiking and walking paths around Hays, enhancing access to nature and promoting outdoor recreation for residents and visitors. By connecting Hays with nearby Ellis County communities through well-designed walking trails, the initiative aims to foster a sense of regional connectivity and encourage healthier, more active lifestyles by integrating culture and landmarks into the trail experience.

Transportation

Part of Strategic Doing found that there was a possible need for public transportation for the citizens of Ellis County. Currently the only form of Public Transportation is ACCESS Transportation with services available on a first request basis, and concluding at 6pm with a cost per ride. This committee would like to be partner with ACCESS to offer free community transportation and extended hours.

Victoria Community

Victoria Community Coalition was created to bring people together to support sustainability and growth for the citizens of Victoria. Through the St. John’s Place, expanded disc golf, Herzogfest and many other areas this group keeps the ideas flowing for the Victoria Community

Ellis Community

Ellis Alliance is a storefront and an umbrella organization that houses the Ellis Chamber of Commerce and the Ellis Community Foundation. All collaborate for the success of the Ellis community!
